In Risk Barclays develops, recommends, and implements controls and cost-effective approaches to minimise Barclay's risks, identifies and analyses potential sources of loss to minimise risk and estimate the potential financial consequences of an occurring loss.

Essential Skills

  • · Experience operating and supporting senior technology governance forums, including disciplined adherence to Terms of Reference, delegated authority, quorum and voting requirements.

  • · Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate inputs across Technology, Risk, Compliance, Security and Control partners and to challenge constructively where required.

  • · Proven ability to design, maintain and quality-assure governance artefacts, including agendas, packs, templates, minutes and decision records, to support effective, auditable and scalable decision-making.

Desirable Skills

  • · Working knowledge of Cloud, AI and GenAI concepts, with an interest in emerging and agentic technologies, sufficient to support governance discussions and assess the completeness and suitability of submissions.

  • · High attention to detail, particularly in relation to accuracy of decisions, approvals, actions and audit traceability within a complex regulatory environment.

  • · Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) to produce clear, structured and executive-ready materials.

Purpose of the role

The role is responsible for coordinating, managing and assuring the effective operation of the Group Cloud governance forums, including the Cloud Adoption Forum, in line with the wider Technology Governance framework.

The role ensures that governance forums operate to a high standard of accuracy, consistency and control, enabling timely, well-evidenced decision-making while supporting the ongoing modernisation of governance approaches, including increased use of AI-enabled insights and automation.

Accountabilities

· Coordinate and manage the Cloud Adoption Forum to ensure it operates effectively, consistently and in line with the agreed Terms of Reference.

· Prepare, issue and maintain accurate agendas, packs, minutes and decision records in accordance with agreed standards and timelines.

· Ensure all forum artefacts are complete, accurate and suitable to support informed discussion and decision-making, including submissions related to cloud, AI and emerging technologies.

· Maintain and evolve forum pack templates and supporting materials in line with agreed expectations, feedback and governance standards, supporting continuous improvement and scalability.

· Enforce adherence to the agreed governance operating model, including quorum, voting rights and delegated authority.

· Ensure decisions, approvals, actions and outcomes are clearly captured, tracked and traceable.

· Identify and escalate deviations from agreed governance processes or standards to the Head of Cloud Governance for awareness and sign-off.

· Distribute forum materials sufficiently in advance of meetings to enable effective review and participation.

· Provide assurance to the Chair and Head of Cloud Governance that forum operations are functioning as intended and remain inspection-ready, while adapting governance practices to support evolving AI and digital capabilities.

This role is based in Knutsford or London, with hybrid working available including working from home.

Purpose of the role

To support the Risk Function in delivering it’s objective of safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities.

Accountabilities

  • Development of strategic direction for risk, including the implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
  • Management of the risk department, including oversight of risk colleagues and their performance, implementation of risk priorities and objectives, oversight of department efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Relationship management of risk stakeholders, including identifying relevant stakeholders, and maintenance of the quality of external third-party services.
  • Adherence to the Risk policy, standards and frameworks, and maintaining a robust control environment.

  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
