A role in Markets involves trading financial instruments, such as bonds, stocks, and derivatives. You'll also arrange capital raisings, manage debt and equity issuances, and structure, execute, and syndicate transactions for clients.

Join us as a "Liquid Financing Risk Analyst" at Barclays, the team supports Prime business globally with analytics to monitor, explain and provide the management and stakeholders visibility over Risk and Exposure facing our clients. The team is the 1st line of defense and part of front office team. The team is responsible for setting and regular monitoring of risk limits and decision making on client collateral management and certain aspects of funding. The team also actively monitors market and credit events to determine client P&L impact and changes to the risk of their portfolios. The team looks at the client level risk across Equities, Fixed Income and derivative asset classes. Prime business comprises of financing products like Cash PB, security Lending and equity swaps. The PDS business comprises of Futures Execution & Clearing, OTC Clearing and FX Prime Brokerage business with a purpose to provide end-users with an efficient venue where they can execute and clear these products.

To be successful as a Liquid Financing Risk Analyst, you should have experience to:

Basic/ Essential Qualifications:

  • Understand the Prime global business, Derivative products like Futures, Options, OTC, FX PB. Create prototypes of innovative tools/models to facilitate decision and analytics for trading or risk business.
  • Demonstrated experience in Data ETL processes, automated data pipeline development, database management, and report automation, ideally evidenced through previous professional roles or project assignments.
  • Perform portfolio analysis and provide IM and Risk Analytics for ad-hoc or new perspective clients.
  • Work on regulatory reporting and exercises like CFTC Liquidation Exercise, Residual Interest projection and Front office sponsored projects to drive efficiency and revenue.
  • Perform analysis on P&L of the business to identify key drivers, prepare narrative for senior management and key talking points for the client coverage.
  • Prepare and monitor various Market risk exposures and stress test results to determine the key drivers of risk for the desk. Present these to the senior Prime Management team with explanations and analysis.
  • Reporting and Analysis of Risk sensitivities like DV01, CS01%, various Treasury reports providing Daily Collateral, Global Revenue and Balances, region wise Interest Attribution, FX and Futures product Margining, FCM Data Analysis etc.
  • Oversee and manage the future state of desk’s MIS suite and the corresponding data architecture by actively prioritizing efforts within the team and liaising with product, IT and quant teams. Get hands on with database Analytics using tools like Tableau /Qlikview/Python/SQL.
  • Create prototypes of innovative tools/models to facilitate decision analytics for trading or risk business.
  • Managing daily deliverables of the team in accordance with agreed SLAs.
  • Ensure cross training and knowledge transfer within the team.

  • This is a high-profile front office position which requires effective of engagement with a variety of internal and external stakeholders across multiples businesses in New York, London and Asia.
  • Take ownership for all undertaken tasks in the team, further the efforts on knowledge management and suggest change for any process improvements.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability along with good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Should possess strong problem-solving skills and proactively provide inputs and suggestions to improve processes.
  • Person should understand the systems and data to derive meaningful insights and present to the Global team for better understanding of our clients’ balances, revenue, risk and exposure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as the person is required to communicate with and present to global stakeholders and management team in several forums across the Investment Banking vertical.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the financial products across business (Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives).
  • Flexible in work long hours when required and aptitude for self-learning and ability to cope well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ambitious and Proactive in nature, should be able to take quick decisions and be an excellent Team player.
  • Python, Advanced Excel (Pivot tables, Macros), MS Office skills and inclination to learn new IT Skills like Qlikview, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.
  • Well organised with good time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise tasks. Ability to multi-task and prioritise accordingly in a highly pressurised environment.
  • Understanding of Derivatives and Risk Management principles.
  • The person needs to have a proven record of willingness to take ownership and responsibility.
  • We cover all regions Asia, EMEA and US. Flexibility with work times will be preferred.

Other Important Skills:

  • Applicants should have four to eight years of experience in quantitative analysis, development, analytics, or other programming-focused positions, ideally with a background in finance or risk management.
  • Graduate from top tier Engineering/Business school with a major in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative fields.
  • Experience at a funding desk, risk management or similar function in Banking/Finance industry.
  • Highly analytical and numerate with exceptional problem-solving abilities and Comprehensive knowledge of funding, liquidity and associated risks.
  • Prior experience with Data ETL, creating automated data pipelines, database management, and report automation, preferably demonstrated through prior work experience or work assignments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and prior experience with ETL processes.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in database management with advanced SQL expertise.
  • Possesses fundamental knowledge of finance and risk.
  • Proficient with statistical tools and analyses.
  • Experienced in building automated data workflows and developing pipelines.
  • Well organised with good time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise tasks. Ability to multi-task and prioritise accordingly in a highly pressurised environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate complicated issues to management and other impacted areas and ensure timely resolution of issues and breaches.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a large global team and willing to take on responsibility. Experience in managing people and teams.
  • Technical Knowledge – Database development and management. Advanced Excel (Pivot tables, Macros), MS Office skills and inclination to add IT Skills like Qlikview, Tableau, PowerBI.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Displays confidence and professionalism.
  • High self-motivation.
  • Eagerness to take initiative and promote process improvements.
  • Understanding of the complexities of funding with an overlay of global markets and economics.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Risk frameworks.
  • Thorough understanding of statistic with a fundamental understanding of calculus.

This role will be based out of Nirlon Knowledge Park, Mumbai.

Purpose of the role

Desk Analysts cover relevant sectors and credits and watch for news events.  Desk Analysts work with Traders and Salespeople to convey company and market updates internally and externally to clients.  Desk Analysts build financial models for the purpose of forecasting financial performance and evaluating capital structure opportunities.  Desk Analysts spend significant time researching relevant companies and their industries to identify emerging trends which will impact subject company performance.  Diligence consists of reading and understanding industry press, company financial reports and documents, expert interviews, and meeting with company management teams.

Accountabilities

  • Maintenance and updating of financial models, as well as client databases accurately.
  • Reports, presentations, and documentation preparation to support sales and trading activities.
  • Monitoring of market data, industry news, company news and assist in the analysis of financial information for trading decisions.
  • Monitoring financials and news flow for particular credits, sectors and general financial news
  • Using your understanding of fundamental credit to work with traders to develop trade ideas
  • Performing fundamental credit analysis on specific credits and developing actionable investment ideas for the trading desk
  •  Participating in earnings/company calls, building financial models, and maintaining trading blotters
