Key Responsibilities

1. Business Requirement Analysis

  • Engage with business SMEs to understand functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Translate business processes and analytical needs into structured data requirements.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to clarify data dependencies, gaps, and assumptions.

2. Data Modelling & Product Design

  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for data products and analytical solutions.

  • Define data product schemas, entity relationships, and data flow architecture.

  • Ensure modelling aligns with enterprise data standards, naming conventions, and metadata needs.

3. Data Sourcing & Transformation Mapping

  • Identify and evaluate appropriate upstream source systems for required datasets.

  • Analyze source-to-target mapping and document transformation logic, validations, and data quality rules.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure accurate implementation of transformations.

4. Data Governance, NFRs & Compliance

  • Identify and document key Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) such as performance, security, scalability, retention, and data freshness requirements.

  • Ensure adherence to data governance policies, lineage documentation, and metadata standards.

  • Work with compliance, security, and risk teams to ensure regulatory alignment (e.g., GDPR, internal data controls).

5. Stakeholder Collaboration & Delivery

  • Act as a bridge between business, data engineers, architects, and QA teams throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Support testing efforts by validating data outputs against requirements.

  • Provide continuous improvement recommendations for data product enhancements.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience in data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical) using tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, Visio, or similar.

  • Solid understanding of relational databases, data warehousing, and dimensional modelling concepts.

  • Ability to analyze enterprise data landscapes and map complex transformations.

  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data quality principles.

Domain & Functional Skills

  • Strong requirement-gathering and documentation skills.

  • Ability to interpret complex business processes and convert them into structured data flows.

  • Experience in designing or contributing to enterprise-grade data products.

Behavioral Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data/Business Analytics, or related field.

  • Experience in regulated environments (banking, financial services, risk, or governance-led projects).

  • Understanding of cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) is a plus.

This role is based in Pune.

Purpose of the role

To support the organisation, achieve its strategic objectives by the identification of business requirements and solutions that address business problems and opportunities. 

Accountabilities

  • Identification and analysis of business problems and client requirements that require change within the organisation.
  • Development of business requirements that will address business problems and opportunities.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders to ensure that proposed solutions meet their needs and expectations.
  • Support the creation of business cases that justify investment in proposed solutions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to determine the viability of proposed solutions.
  • Support the creation of reports on project progress to ensure proposed solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Creation of operational design and process design to ensure that proposed solutions are delivered within the agreed scope.
  • Support to change management activities, including development of a traceability matrix to ensure proposed solutions are successfully implemented and embedded in the organisation.

  • OR for an individual contributor, they will lead collaborative assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. They will identify new directions for assignments and/ or projects, identifying a combination of cross functional methodologies or practices to meet required outcomes.
  • Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Identify ways to mitigate risk and developing new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources such as procedures and practises (in other areas, teams, companies, etc).to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communicate complex information. 'Complex' information could include sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience.
  • Influence or convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
