In Audit, you'll play a crucial role in providing independent, reliable, and insightful assurance to the Board and executive management. Your work will focus on evaluating the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and control over current and evolving risks, adhering to international auditing standards and adapting to the changing business environment.

Join us as a VP within the BarclaysGlobalInternal Audit (BIA)RiskandFinance teamwhere you will be a valued member of the audit team who willsupport the delivery of the BIA audit plan. In this role you will work collaboratively with others across BIA to deliver audits, while developing strong client relationships which are independent and be seen as a respected voice. 

You will perform control designand operatingassessments,conductreperformance testingand willbe responsible forpreparing audit workpapers and documentation within audit tools.Supported by the Portfolio Manager, you will lead ondefining the audit scope and testing strategies for the audit. You will alsoassistwith continuous monitoring and audit universe risk assessment. Throughout, you will work collaboratively with other team members across theGlobal BIARisk andFinanceteam.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications: 

  • In depth experience of providingassurancein the third lineorother line of defenceat a financial institution, a consultancy and/or audit firm
  • Deeptechnical knowledge of regulatory prudentialrequirements and associated reporting, governance and controlsincludingone or more of the:
  • Prudential Capital Requirements -Credit, CounterpartyandMarketRiskRWA requirements, Large Exposures, Own Funds and MREL and Leverage requirements
  • PrudentialLiquidityRequirements-6G, LCR, NSFR
  • COREP and PRA prudential reporting
  • Basel 3.1 and FRTB requirements
  • Experienced working inor withGlobal banks with teams in multiple locations.
  • In depth knowledge and experience of retail and/or investment banking products, preferably in a Financial Control, Regulatory Reporting,Internal Auditor Risk and Regulatory consultancyrole
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders using a variety of communication styles.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience of managing relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills, withtrack recordof driving initiatives in a relevant field and delivery of work on time.
  • Strong risk and control understanding
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues.
  • Drive and willingness to learn and share knowledge with peers

This role will be based in London.

Purpose of the role

To support the development of audits aligned to the bank’s standards and objectives by working collaboratively with colleagues, providing accurate information and recommendations, and complying with policies and procedures.

Accountabilities

  • Audit development and delivery support, includingover prudentialregulatory reporting,financial statements, accounting practices, operational processes, ITsystemsand risk management.

  • Identification of operational risks to support the delivery of the Barclays Internal Audit (BIA) Audit Plan through risk assessments.

  • Assessment of internal control effectiveness and their capability toidentifyand mitigate risk aligned to regulatory requirements.

  • Communication of key findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including the Audit Owner, senior managers and directors.

  • Identification of regulatory news and industry trends/developments to providetimelyinsight and recommendations for best practice.

  • To contribute or set strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change. Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage andmaintainpolicies/ processes; deliver continuous improvements and escalate breaches of policies/procedures.

  • Managing a team,defining rolesand responsibilities, planning for the department’s future needs and operationsandcounselling employees on performance and contributing to employee pay decisions/changes. 

  • Subject matter expert within own discipline and will guide technical direction.Lead team members through structured assignments, provide training and coachingandidentifythe need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. 

  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.

  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.

  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.

  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.

  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.

  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will berequiredto define problems and develop innovative solutions.

  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.

  • Seek out, build andmaintaintrustedrelationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholdersin order toaccomplishkey businessobjectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
