Service Designer
Knutsford

As a Barclays Service Designer, you will be responsible for designing the end-to-end journey of a service. This helps a user complete their goal and Barclays to deliver a business goal. In this role, the work may involve the creation of, or change to, transactions, products and content across both digital and offline channels provided by different parts of Barclays.

Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, established in 1690, with a legacy of success, quality, and innovation. We offer careers that provide endless opportunity – helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.

This role will be based from Knutsford. We will confirm your place of work at the point of offer, ensuring that this is considered in line with our future ways of working and overall location strategy. The hiring manager for the role will discuss the appropriate defined time in office for the role with you as part of the application process.

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home.  We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

What will you be doing?
•    Managing cross functional teams of designers to ensure that the highest priority and design work is completed to an exceptionally high standard
•    Ensuring consistency in approach, design, and output between this specific area and all other areas of the digital experience
•    Directing best practice methodology for service, experience and process design within the business
•    Being responsible for championing excellence; being confident in defining and promoting beautiful, useful designs
•    Focusing on our customer – making sure our colleague and customer experiences delight and bring joy to our users
•    Defining and managing visionary customer experiences and strategy development that puts Barclays at the pinnacle of customer focused design practices
•    Maintaining knowledge of the competitive and regulatory pressures within the banking industry with a good understanding of how competitors differentiate themselves

What we’re looking for:
•    Ability  to apply different approaches, tools and techniques to promote and adopt original ways of thinking
•    Understands the concepts, principles, and processes of design thinking, and applies the knowledge and processes to design new products and services or improve existing ones
•    Ability to apply the appropriate tools and techniques for anticipating, identifying, and resolving problems in a diverse range of situations
•    Knowledge and understanding of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Experience in Service Design framework
•    Understanding UX and content design to research from and backstage thinking
•    Stakeholder management
•    Proficient in design software (e.g. Figma, Adobe)
