Trade & Receivables Finance Lawyer
Birmingham

As a Barclays Trade & Receivables Finance Lawyer, you will support the Trade & Working Capital business across the bank from an origination, execution, structuring and syndication perspective. This role is focused on supporting the receivables financing and asset backed lending aspects of the business, although you will have exposure across the entire product set. In addition, you will also be involved in a number of key regulatory driven strategic projects.

Barclays is one of the world's largest and most respected financial institutions, established in 1690, with a legacy of success, quality, and innovation. We offer careers that provide endless opportunity – helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

What will you be doing?
•    Providing legal advice to the international Trade & Working Capital business teams, focusing on receivables financing and asset backed lending structures
•    Advising on a wide range of trade and working capital products, including invoice discounting, asset-backed lending structures and supplier finance transactions
•    Reviewing and negotiating a full range of transaction documentation
•    Advising and managing legal risk on transactions and projects, and providing solutions for the business
•    Managing and complying with legal governance and controls
•    Formulating and delivering training to the business or Legal colleagues on legal, regulatory and market developments
•    Producing and updating standard form documents, templates, practice notes and guidelines
•    Fostering collaboration with other legal teams to ensure sharing of know-how, consistent approach and efficient legal coverage

What we’re looking for:
•    English law qualified Solicitor with thorough knowledge of general banking/finance law
•    Currently working in a law firm or an in-house department of a reputable bank focusing on finance transactional work
•    Proven track record on a range of general banking work, structured transactions and experience in cross border transactions
•    Excellent technical legal skills, including ability to draft and negotiate legal documentation to the highest standard

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    Some experience of receivables finance, supplier finance or asset backed lending structures
•    Ability to tackle new technical areas of law without prior experience

Where will you be working?
