As a Barclays Legal Risk & Control Lawyer, you will be part of the new Legal Controls and Controls Governance team. Your role will be split into (i) controls and controls governance where you will undertake controls reviews, testing, and assurance, and (ii) risk management where you will write policies and undertake reporting, governance, and procedures. The team will have an accountability for embedment and ongoing development of the new accountabilities of the Legal Function (particularly in relation to controls).

We offer careers that provide endless opportunity – helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home.  We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

•    Acting and leading as an SME in relation to the Legal Risk Policies and Standards, Barclays Control Framework and helping the Legal CCO as the manager of strategic solutions to issues
•    Assisting with targeted training in relation to Legal Risk and working with Legal Policy and Standard Owners and their delegates

What we’re looking for:
•    Legal qualification (current or prior experience)
•    Background in risk & control governance
•    Excellent stakeholder management skills - ability to flex style and form solid, effective and influential relationships

Skills that will help you in the role:
•    Experience working within a Legal function within the financial services sector
•    Experience and knowledge of Barclays risk and control framework
•    Background in the creation of and curiosity for enhancing Legal controls and procedures

Where will you be working?
