What will you be doing 
Reporting directly into the Head of UK Banks & Specialty Finance, this Senior Banker role is expected to manage and oversee the performance and risk of a portfolio of strategic and sophisticated clients within the Specialty Finance space.  

The role holder will be the most senior banker in the team, and will hold the role of Lead Treasury Banker for all tiered clients within their portfolio.  The role holder will be role model for the Barclays values and mindset, operating effectively across the CIB, particularly with our markets colleagues to deliver a consistent and compelling experience to our sophisticated global clients.  

Performance will align to the Balanced Scorecard (Company, Client, Colleague, Citizenship & Conduct), the BarclaysValues and Mindset. 

As the Relationship Director covering Speciality Finance clients, you will have responsibility for:
•    Delivering profitable performance, growth, and client strategy through effective collaboration across relevant markets, regions and product teams, working with the respective leads in Investment Banking Coverage, Product, Risk, Operations, Technology and Infrastructure.
•    Understanding the various business models within the sector, and their inherent risks, to develop the business on a highly selective basis.
•    Drive client relationship across the Business – working with the other sector leads, Private Bank, Investment Bank, Cards and Payments in conjunction with the ICB Regional Heads and Leadership Team to help develop and monetize specialist finance clients globally to maximize their use of the Corporate Banking product set - with a focus on the top tier names, ensuring that a high degree of client contact is consistently maintained.
•    Ensure effective risk management across the business. Ensure compliance with mandatory risk policies and procedures relating to regulatory, operational, legal risk, financial crime and credit risk.
•    Make an active contribution to Barclays International’s culture and community at a local, regional and national level.  


What we’re looking for 
•    Effective communicator with developed influencing skills – able to engage and partner across Barclays with teams of high performing individuals. Demonstrate emotional intelligence in dealings with others.
•    Working closely with IB bankers to ensure coordinated coverage of key clients.  
•    High impact - ability to influence others, for the benefit of the business. Challenge the ‘norm’ in order to ensure more effective ways of delivering to clients.
•    Comfortable dealing with large volumes of structured and un-structured data to develop appropriate solutions to meet client expectations.  
•    Developed business skills and strong profile with internal stakeholders. 
•    Demonstrated history of consistently exceeding targets and execution of team objectives.
•    Professional, values driven approach, and leads by example, particularly when operating through change.
•    Demonstrates insight and initiative when approaching challenges and be driven to consistently deliver high performance
•    Capacity to understand internal and external dynamics and to adjust approach accordingly, particularly during changing Credit and Market risk environment.
•    Key awareness of regulatory, political, and reputational sensitivities attaching to clients and industry segments and ability to align behaviours accordingly
•    Technically sound and able to analyse situations to create best outcome for Barclays and the client.
•    Regular exposure to complex clients and situations

Skills that will help you in your role 
•    Extensive client coverage experience, with a strong preference given to experience covering the Specialty Finance industry.
•    Specialised knowledge of the UK bank, Specialty Finance sector and including financial statement analysis, credit analysis, and experience in loan/trade origination and deal execution to the insurance and insurance run-off sectors.  
•    Strong knowledge of corporate and investing banking products, services and policies.
•    Working knowledge and understanding of Securitization and leveraged finance.
•   Excellent communication and presentation skills.  
•   Extensive client coverage experience, with a strong preference given to experience covering the Specialty Finance industry.
