Overall purpose of role

Contribute and help to lead the development of the Private Bank Sales management change agenda to fulfil the needs of the business to ensure that the Sales management function actively drives business growth and operates and a leading function to deliver a first class Sales culture. 

Develop a one team approach across EME ensuring that the locations operate in a similar manor in line with agreed best practices.Continue to raise awareness of Sales management and the part the function can play within the growth of the businesses in all regions.

To improve the overall Sales management effectiveness for EME sales force, including design and management of new processes/tools to aid the visibility to Bankers/Team leaders and Senior Management of how to drive the business growth agenda.

The role will work closely with a number of stakeholders, such as Investments, Banking, Credit and Chief of Staff, Team leaders and Senior Mgmt with effective ways to identify, and grow new business whilst equally maintaining and growing the existing share of wallet. 

Core accountabilities

1.Deploy Private Bank Sales management best practice in EME developing Sales management tools and processes to aid Bankers, TL’s and Senior management with the ability to easily manage all sales related activities helping to embed this in banker’s daily business activities and part of their DNA.

2. Day-to-day oversight of the Monaco based bankers and ownership of driving the Sales Framework. Embed a robust sales management discipline on bankers for the acquisition of new clients and growing share of wallet for existing clients. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the below:

Sales Management

  • Provide direction to the Front Office as well as developing and executing the EME Team Sales strategy to achieve growth and revenue targets, driving consistent, high quality delivery
  • Driving change through client needs analysis, business prioritisation, and resource management
  • Actively support the acquisition, servicing, development and retention of clients to help achieve the team budget and business plan
  • Ensure rigorous activity management of the sales process

New Business Origination

  • Develop a “Hunter” within banker mind-set across the region, develop business development as the heart of the role of the Banker population.Implement forums and leadership techniques to aid the business to drive continuous improvement
  • Ensure the Private Bank achieves quantitative and qualitative targets for new clients focusing on strategic targets, in line with business appetite
  • Enhance collaboration between Banker and Product to provide innovative and first class financial solutions to meet client needs
  • Develop and implement client acquisition/prospection strategy, supporting bankers in the prospection and development of new clients
  • Help develop cross-referral streams
  • Create a strategy on high level client relationships with the Desk & Location Heads to create a focused based approach
  • Increase levels of service and delivery to existing and new clients at all times

Client Strategy

  • Drive EME wide Private Bank locational performance management, including carrying out regular reviews looking to enhance returns and business growth
  • Drive a clear strategy on the existing client base, with regards to client segmentation, returns, promise management and relationship development
  • Instil a high performance culture across the respective platforms, with a particular emphasis on excellence in sales management process and activity
  • Demonstrate rigorous performance management of all client relationships

Collaboration

  • Drive EME wide collaboration across Bankers, Team leads and Product specialists, ensure that the “Best of Barclays” is delivered to all clients, through the complete suite of our product offering
  • Enhance the Investment team involvement, ownership and accountability across the region to ensure that everyone feels empowered to drive business, removing obstacles, perception and biases which disrupt a one team based approach

Governance and Control

  • Truly Front to Back focused with the ability to identify functional gaps, short comings and to constructively engage with COO & Infrastructure partners to address them
  • Adherence to core Barclays and specific Market/locational regulations
  • Maintain the highest possible standards of risk management, compliance and governance within your team by ensuring individuals engage and operate in accordance with:
    • Regulatory requirements in relevant local jurisdictions
    • Barclays Wealth Policies, Procedures and principles of governance
    • Barclays Wealth Training & Competency framework – our “right to sell”
  • Ensure comprehensive use of Suitability / Risk Profiles; Annual Reviews & Call Reports
  • Look to include clear control dashboards of key control indicators (e.g., AARs, right first time KYC, credit reviews, T&E, complaints, etc.) bankers score card regarding sales process and run a strong local risk and governance framework

Role requirements

Professional/technical experience

  • A proven track record of private banking business in all respects.
  • Significant, disciplined sales management experience, with evidence of being able to proactively drive the business forward from a productivity standpoint.
  • An ability to operate successfully within a matrix-managed organisation
  • Leadership ability to drive the Sales Management and change agenda through and inclusive team based approach
  • Versatility and a willingness to deal with all manner of things that are required to run the business, as well as a genuine enthusiasm for management and a tenacious approach.
  • A first-rate mind and the ability to apply it professionally in an intense and disciplined way

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit but also with a collegiate approach
  • High levels of integrity and able to quickly form positive working relationships with others
