Step into your next exciting role as a Capital Optimization VP. In this role, you will support RMG – Business Optimization. There will be an emphasis on the management of Financial Resources (viz. Capital) for the Liquid Financing business, across all products, regions and entities. Your role will have a specific focus on tactical optimization and strategic optimization of the financial resources for all global Barclays entities. Additionally, you will help the firm navigate through a period of rapid regulatory changes (Basel 4, SA-CCR, FRTB).Your role would further involve responsibility for areas such as analytics development, updates to Liquid Financing Management and Sales teams. You will also be the subject matter expert and providing guidance to help optimize financial resource consumption within the Business Optimization mandate of RMG.

To be successful as a Capital Optimization VP, you should have:

• Graduate degree in Math, Engineering, Finance, or related field

• Extensive experience in financial services firm or institution

• Working technical knowledge of BCBS Regulations along with knowledge of jurisdictional nuances, as well as US GAAP and IFRS considerations.

• Understanding of current and upcoming banking regulations

• Considerable MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint)

Some other highly valued skills may include:

• Ample quantitative and analytical background, with excellent problem solving skills

• Prior experience with Business Intelligence Tools like Business Objects and QlikView, as well as relational databases and SQL

• Knowledge of Liquid Financing and Clearing business, operating models and regulatory capital considerations

• Ability to work independently, demonstrating ownership and ability to prioritize work under pressure

• Hardworking, with an eye for detail

This role is located in New York, NY.

Minimum Salary: $155,000

Maximum Salary: $250,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any another type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To manage, optimise and control financial resources and portfolio-wide services with a view to building a true competitive advantage. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and implementation of strategies to optimise the allocation and utilisation of financial resources, maximising returns while ensuring compliance with group targets and regulatory requirements.
  • Financial analysis, including risk assessments and scenario planning, to support decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Collaboration with business stakeholders to develop financial plans, budgets and forecasts aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Monitoring and assessment of financial resource consumption against established benchmarks and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Identification and mitigation of financial risks through the implementation of risk management strategies and controls.

  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.
  • Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
