As part of the Finance team, you'll help shape Barclays' financial strategy through accounting, budgeting, financial forecasting, and analysis. Your expertise will support management, cash and debt management, and insurance, driving the financial health and success of the organisation.

Join Barclays as Vice President in Financial Control, Treasury team where you'll play pivotal role in guiding Legal Entity Control (LEC) function within Treasury Finance requiring a good understanding of Treasury related business, products and the associated IFRS accounting requirements. To be successful in this role, you should have,

  • Good understanding of LEC function including month end closures, account reconciliation and substantiation.

  • Good understanding of Treasury Infrastructure.

  • Extensive experience in a senior finance role with focus on stakeholder management, book closure, collaboration, and automation.

  • Understanding of end-to-end control environment.

  • Detail-oriented and focused in identifying risks and flagging them at the right levels.

  • Experience of mentoring and developing junior colleagues.

Some other highly valued skills may include,

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Additional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, MBA or equivalent.

  • Good financial background experience including exposure to IFRSs and external reporting or Financial Control function for large scale organization.

  • Good understanding of Treasury function and products handled by Treasury business.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both formal and informal settings & ability to interact with the global team (written and verbal).

This role is based in our Chennai office.

Purpose of the role

To manage the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of financial reporting. 

Accountabilities

  • Management of the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements, and other accounting records in accordance with the relevant accounting standards, rules and regulations.
  • Support in identification, assessment, and mitigation of financial risks, and report on these financial risks to senior colleagues.
  • Development and maintenance of a robust system of internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure that there is no fraudulent misreporting, and ensure the accuracy of financial data, including regular assessment of the effectiveness of internal controls addressing any weaknesses or gaps.  .
  • Development and implementation of up-to-date financial policies and procedures to ensure consistent and effective financial practices across the organisation.
  • Management of the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and software applications, including collaboration with IT colleagues to integrate financial systems with other enterprise systems.
  • Preparation and submission of statutory and regulatory reports to authorities, and provision of support to other departments in their preparation and review of regulatory reports.
  • Coordination with external auditors and regulatory authorities in support of audits and examinations.

  • OR for an individual contributor, they will be a subject matter expert within own discipline and will guide technical direction. They will lead collaborative, multi-year assignments and guide team members through structured assignments, identify the need for the inclusion of other areas of specialisation to complete assignments. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions..
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.
  • Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
