We offer careers that provide endless opportunity – helping millions of individuals and businesses thrive and creating financial and digital solutions that the world now takes for granted.

At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home. Please discuss the working pattern requirements for the role you are applying for with the hiring manager. Please note that as we continue to embed our hybrid working environment, we remain in a test and learn phase, which means that working arrangements may be subject to change on reasonable notice to ensure we meet the needs of our business.

What will you be doing?

  • Working with APAC Head of EIP Legal to advise all businesses and infrastructure units in APAC on a full suite of employment, incentives and pensions legal and regulatory issues
  • Taking ownership for identifying, analysing and communicating legal risk to stakeholders, and ensuring timely and appropriate escalation and reporting of risk and control issues
  • Liaising with members of the Global EIP Legal team, other Legal teams and functions globally to share best practices and drive consistency and efficiency
  • Managing EIP litigation across Asia Pacific and advising on EIP law aspects of local, regional, and global projects
  • Conducting reviews and revisions of employment contracts, policies and templates
  • Participating in the development and improvement of processes, policies, and procedures designed to reduce EIP legal risk within Barclays
  • Ensuring changes and developments in legislation, regulations, guidelines, and practices affecting the business are analysed, evaluated and relevant stakeholders are engaged

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in managing legal issues in Greater China (Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan) and/or Japan
  • Wide experience in managing employment disputes
  • Experience in M&A, acquisitions, disposals and outsourcing/insourcing

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Some exposure to the financial services sector and investment banking organisations, in particular advising on financial regulatory issues
  • Experience in an in-house environment either as an employee or via secondment
  • Experience working across multiple Asia-Pacific jurisdictions

Where will you be working?

Our office is located in Marina Bay Financial Centre, which has been carefully crafted into a “city in a garden”. The centre provides an integrated live-work-play development, surrounded by shops, restaurants, gyms and an alfresco dining area.
