As a Barclays LatAm Economist, you’ll undertake macroeconomic and quantitative research as you contribute to the firm’s view on each of the economies of a region, with respect to the credit markets and rates. Your understanding of the political environment in Latin America will be essential as you navigate complex political dynamics, anticipate policy changes, and provide strategic advice based on political insights. This understanding helps in formulating economic recommendations that align with political realities and stakeholder interests.

Salary / Rate Minimum: 155,000
Salary / Rate Maximum: 225,000

What will you be doing?

•    Conducting highest-quality, rigorous and insightful economic research and forecasting for Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay 
•    Publishing research on macroeconomics and rates topics
•    Contributing towards the development of quantitative models for analyzing those Economies
•    Collaborating with other team members on ongoing research papers and projects
•    Advising senior business managers (trading, sales and banking) regarding relevant economic topics and possible implications for the business for the 4 economies
•    Participating actively in client presentations and working closely with the sales force

What we’re looking for:

•    PhD or advanced degree in Economics/Finance
•    Two or more years of financial modelling experience
•    Two or more years of experience working with statistical concepts and financial markets
•    Proficiency in Spanish

Skills that will help you in the role:

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•    Ability to manage a large number of projects and seamlessly interact with sales, trading and other research personnel
•    Innovative thinking with excellent client-facing skills
•    Ability to effectively partner with members of the business and research teams

Where will you be working?

You will be working at our Americas Headquarters at 745 Seventh Avenue. This 32-story office tower is located in Times Square in the heart of Manhattan and features a cafeteria, fitness center and state-of-the-art LED signage on the facade of the building.
