Barclays Services Corp. seeks US Principal Investments Executive in New York, New York (multiple positions available):
- Originate, structure and execute strategic growth equity investments by deploying proprietary capital.
- Specialize in growing technology companies, primarily across financial technology and enterprise software companies.
- Align investments with the medium to long-term objectives of the business.
- Review valuation process, ensuring that inputs and calculations are correct and that there is a robust control environment.
- Pitch growth investment and disposal opportunities to investment committee, perform screening and due diligence, negotiation and structuring terms for direct equity, mezzanine debt and fund investment.
- Drive transactions from origination to closing both through external negotiation working with advisors, as well as interfacing with internal systems, which includes ‘Know Your Customer’ requirements, trading systems and funding.
- Sit on the boards of portfolio companies exercising fiduciary duty and work with and challenge portfolio company management teams.
- Work closely with the management of portfolio companies to drive organic growth, assess bolt-on acquisition opportunities and deliver a meaningful exit.
- Build and maintain strong network with internal stakeholders and business executives to ensure that equity investments align with and drive value for the core business.
- May telecommute.
Salary / Rate Minimum/yr: $173,555 per year
Salary / Rate Maximum/yr: $205,000 per year
The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.
This position is eligible for incentives pursuant to Barclays Employee Referral Program.
Purpose of the role
To manage the bank's principal equity investments portfolio, ensuring that it aligns with the bank's principal investment strategy and risk tolerance by the analysis of market conditions, selection of appropriate investments and divestments, and monitoring of the performance of the portfolio.
Accountabilities
- Identification and screening of principal equity investment and divestment opportunities that align with the bank's overall business objectives, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
- Research and due diligence of various investment and divestment opportunities in principal equity investments, to select appropriate transactions for the portfolio, including follow-ons.
- Execution of transactions and portfolio management of the bank's principal equity investment portfolio, ensuring that it meets the bank's strategic investment objectives and risk tolerance.
- Analysis of the performance and periodic valuation updates of the principal equity investment portfolio, evaluating its performance against risk indicators and investment strategic objectives, and preparation of regular performance reports for relevant internal stakeholders.
- Implementation and maintenance of effective risk management processes to identify, measure, monitor, and control risks arising from transacting in principal equity investments.

- Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
- Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.
- Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
