At Barclays, we offer a hybrid working experience that blends the positives of working alongside colleagues at our onsite locations, together with working from home.  We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Introduction 
The Product and Proposition Manager is responsible for the management and development of existing and new 
products and/or services; and where applicable, ownership of related customer and colleague journeys. The role holder will develop the product strategy, drive change through Barclays execution teams, make key decisions in the product lifecycle and own associated outcomes for customers, colleagues and the bank, achieved through appropriate service level agreements, regulatory compliance, risk management and controls.

What will you be doing?
•    Lead in the development of customer level strategies & solutions that are tailored to customers’ needs
•    Act as a Subject Matter Expert in the applicable Product/Proposition team and be able to confidently guide and  advise stakeholders at all levels in the Bank on the application of existing and new products/propositions and related customer and colleague journeys 
•    Use comprehensive knowledge and understanding of product and services/tools used by the Product and 
Proposition team and take cue from the bank’s Customer Strategy, to develop product propositions, and/or service 
strategy, define the priorities for delivering the outcomes needed to deliver the strategy and lead execution of the 
priorities.
•    With a strong knowledge of the financial services industry and relative positioning of the company’s products and 
services, input into the customer strategy and use this knowledge when developing products and services. 
•    Ensure appropriate Service Level Agreements are in place with operational teams and monitor performance against these Agreements, supporting the business to resolve operational service issues as they arise. 
•    Guided by the business strategy, develop different commercial and business models through a strong 
understanding of the financial drivers of the P&L for the relevant segment/ proposition/ journey. 
•    Influence how Barclays can respond to disruption from new business models, including disruptive models enabled 
by new Fintech developments. 
•    Create strategic alliances and partnerships across Barclays; to understand and optimise the operational model to 
deliver good customer outcomes, efficiencies in the business and reduce the cost of operating the business. 
•    Advise and influence senior decision-makers using data, evaluative judgement and comprehensive understanding 
of the products and services within the team’s remit 
•    Acts independently by leveraging own skills and knowledge and uses strong leadership skills and techniques, to 
support the team in their personal development and create a psychologically safe environment that encourages 
and values innovation, trying new approaches and learning from failure 
•    Maintain product/service integrity by ensuring legal and regulatory compliance and manage risk in the team by 
creating reliable and sustainable solutions for mitigating risk; resolving audit findings; reporting at relevant  governance fora; and making timely escalations in accordance with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.  


What we’re looking for:
Proficiency Profile 
Competencies are defined for each role across different ‘proficiency’ levels. The combination of the right competencies, 
at the right proficiency level, is what makes up the detailed definition of any one role. The definitions of the proficiency 
levels are as follows: 

1. Awareness – Practical experience with supervision, predominantly in non-complex situations. 
2. Working Knowledge – Independent practical experience in largely non-complex situations. 
3. Practitioner – Independent, complex application of the competence and supervision of others. 
4. Expert – Independent, complex application of the competence and recognised by other senior professionals as an 
expert, leading and coaching others. 
The role holder will ideally have Practitioner Knowledge or Working Knowledge of the core competencies as stated 
below; however, the role holder along with their Line Manager will own the development through the proficiencies of 
these competencies and where the required proficiency is not met, training will be provided.

•    Digital Transformation - Understands the strategies, technologies and practices related to effective digital transformation. Recognises the importance and impact of digital transformation on the bank. 
•    Analytical Thinking - Applies tools and techniques to gather, process and analyse information using various sources and different perspectives. Recognises the significance of exploring and dissecting information in order to tackle tasks, decisions or issues. 
•    Decision-Making - Understands the need to balance careful evaluation and judgment of situations with timely Decision making. Considers all options, applies rational thinking and selects the best path forward in line with the interests of the bank, customers and colleagues. 
•    Product Design Life Cycle - Knowledge and application of the product design life cycle; the ability to design and produce deliverables using appropriate methodologies in a range of scenarios across the bank. 
•    Collaboration - Understands how to work with others and why this is important. Invests in the shared success of the group, and prioritises the needs of the collective. Respects the contribution of others and ensures everyone feels heard and valued. 
•    Stakeholder Management - Proactively, systematically and effectively manages stakeholder relationships both within and outside the bank. Sets clear expectations and analyses stakeholder(s) needs in order to successfully deliver the bank's desired outcomes. 
•    Risk Management - Understands governance, risk and control principles, and uses them to inform decision making, problem solving and opportunity assessment. 
•    Producing Results - Ability to achieve or exceed planned outcomes, even in difficult situations. Effectively uses available resources (e.g., people and technology) and strives for excellence.

•    Market & Industry Knowledge - Understands the different markets and industries that the bank operates in. Demonstrates knowledge of current competition, market trends, client / customer needs and regulations, both at a local and global level 
•    Strategic Thinking - Ability to 'see the bigger picture' and plan accordingly, ensuring all decisions and activities contribute to the bank's vision, success and competitiveness in the market. 
•    User Experience Design - Knowledge of user experience design tools and techniques. Utilises these tools and techniques in order to design and build products / applications / services that are positively perceived and accessible to all users.
