Role Title: Director, Group Strategy
Location: London

What will you be doing 
You will be one the leaders in our growing, London based strategy team focused on driving the group’s long term strategic ambition, maximizing returns now and tomorrow.  The person in this role with be critical in partnering with our senior executives to develop and articulate Group wide and business unit strategies, check and challenge operating assumptions, identify opportunities for growth and optimization, recommend alternatives for our strategy and ultimately establish themselves as a thought leader inside and outside the team. A critical part of the role will be to develop talent in the team and to foster a culture of people development and enablement to achieve full potential.

Key Accountabilities
•    Enhance the Firm’s financial performance and deliver financial goals and projections
•    Originate and execute projects on an independent basis
•    Drive execution of the Firm’s highest priorities and top strategic initiatives
•    Partner with Group-ExCo senior stakeholders and their direct reports on high visibility projects
•    Be seen as a leader who can identify and communicate key cross business unit strategies
•    Build relationships with external advisors and Subject Matter Experts
•    Attract, develop and retain the highest caliber talent within a diverse and inclusive team
•    Uniquely grow both the breadth and depth of your Financial Services knowledge
•    Advance to other roles in the company

What we’re looking for / Skills that will help you in your role 
•    Significant experience at a top tier consultancy, ideally in combination with experience in a corporate strategy focused role in Financial Services. Alternatively you should have experience working in the client-side of businesses that we serve (Corporate and Investment Banking, Welath & Private Banking, UK Retail and SME Banking)
•    Solid analytical mindset and approach to problem solving
•    Proven ability to shape, develop and execute a strategy to drive change
•    An ability to read a room and understand and balance the objectives of multiple stakeholders
•    Experience building and leading project teams
•    A clear first instinct to partner and place the team and Barclays above personal advancement
