Role Title:  Head of EMEA Loan Closing & Settlement

What will you be doing:
As part of Barclays Execution Services, the Chief Operating Office (COO) is responsible for supporting and implementing the strategic goals of the Group’s businesses and manages the day to day operations of the Barclays UK and Barclays International businesses as well as driving change and development. To support the business, COO has created transaction cycles for some existing and new operations and technology activities. Each transaction cycle groups together a number of services that we currently deliver to the businesses.
The COO mission statement is, “to be a world-class provider of simple, efficient, innovative and secure operation and technology services to deliver customer and shareholder value”. The team comprises of business aligned teams, the Chief Information Office, Barclays Execution Services COO, Group Strategy and Centres of Excellence for Data, Controls, Security, Procurement, Innovation and Risk, Finance and Treasury COO

Overall purpose of the role:
•    The role holder will be a senior partner in the Global Wholesale Lending leadership team influencing the strategy of scaling, enhancing the capabilities and service delivery in support of the Syndicate, Agency and Credit Markets Trading business. The role holder will execute these plans to meet the needs of the businesses at the right service level and cost, while driving a culture of service excellence.
•    The role holder will lead the European Loan Closing and Settlement teams and be required to build long lasting and trusting relationships with senior desk trading and sales teams in the Credit Markets Trading business, the  Syndicate and Agency business,  as well as other critical partners including, Finance, Legal, IT and Credit Risk, as well as being able to work directly with professional advisors, sponsors, customers and clients as necessary. 
•    The role holder will support and influence the Wholesale Lending transformation agenda with highly visible, large scale change such as the Loan settlement/servicing journey and Credit trading.
•    The role holder will lead the further maturing of the service framework and consumption model for Loan closing and settlement. 

Key Responsibilities: 
•    The role holder will be responsible for the day to day escalation management and oversight of the EMEA Loan Closing and Settlement  teams – circa 100 plus FTE 
•    The role holder will Influence a wide-ranging audience across the Business & Operational functions to gain buy-in to Business requirements, performance/timelines. Stakeholders will be to Director level although presentation at Director Level + will be expected.
•    Supporting the design and management of plans to deliver the Wholesale Lending operational goals. 
•    Conducting specific business analysis tasks as directed by senior management.
•    Design and facilitate in the delivery of optimal end to end business processes.
•    Communicating status and updates to the  Head of Wholesale Lending and stakeholders across the Barclays International franchise and driving actions to improve maturity.
•    The role holder will maintain awareness of business structures /processes /changes /volume fluctuations & other functional dynamics to ensure data analysis & frameworks are current & focused. 
•    Understand Barclays Group processes & policies and ensure adherence to them.
•    The role holder will have an in-depth knowledge of the loan industry and market competitor landscape. 

What we’re looking for:
•    Experienced in stakeholder management at a senior level – MD/D/VP
•    Awareness of key drivers of service excellence and operational efficiency, proven ability to think creatively & identify innovative solutions.
•    Proven experience of managing operational processes/ leading teams
•    Proven experience of analysis, creativity and innovation and ability to conceive original and practical solutions to complex and business critical problems
•    Ability to develop and grow teams in awareness of wider strategic goals
•    Expertise in using industry wide lending technology platforms, particularly LoanIQ

Skills that will help you in your role: 
•    Ability to demonstrate significant experience of working closely with an MI/ Data analytics / Operational area’s/IT, Transformation or Change department
•    Strong commercial focus.
•    Ability to manage teams and work with groups pan-functionally, establishing rapport and credibility at all levels.
•    Appreciation of the implications of change on organisations.
•       Demonstrable experience of leading teams in a pressurised, high-visibility environment.
•    Strong Leadership
