Firewall Security Consultant
Whippany, NJ

As a Barclays Firewall Security Consultant, you will have an exciting chance to be part of the Network Security Team and conduct the review of all firewall and proxy related change activities. In this role, you will work with key stakeholders to identify any remediation required prior to security sign off. You will have the opportunity to provide ad-hoc security advice to projects relating to firewall and proxy activity, identify areas for improvement and effectively work with colleagues and key stakeholders to achieve secure solutions.

What will you be doing?

• Becoming a SME on the Skybox firewall security toolset
• Enforcing security and control objectives adhering to Standards, Policies and Procedures
• Assessing change integrity in architecture design, firewall/proxy deployment and rule implementations
• Performing gatekeeper role for all firewall and proxy infrastructure related change activities adhering to SLA’s and priorities
• Developing and maintaining deep knowledge of company security policy and business risk appetite
• Identifying potential security risks and minimising security risk exposure to the organisation
• Engaging with the internal supplier in the sign-off process prior to live deployment; attendance of technical forums

What we’re looking for:

• Demonstrable knowledge of security solutions and designs from a people, process and technology perspective, including security technologies
• Knowledge of information security frameworks and standards such as ISO27001/2, NIST and their application into diverse environments
• In-depth knowledge of network security; knowledge of well-known ports, protocols, and associated vulnerabilities
• Able to communicate how protocols traverse a firewall in relation to application behaviour and communicate the risks and vulnerabilities clearly to stakeholders

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Security qualification (e.g. CISSP, CISA, CISM or similar)
• Knowledgeable about existing best practice for integration of security controls
