Software Engineer
Glasgow

As a Barclays Software Engineer, you will play a key role in the development, support, enhancement and build-out of strategic applications in our portfolio. As a part of the role, you will also be working with the global team members towards delivery of agile sprints. This position involves hands-on application development in collaboration with our globally distributed development teams. This role will service the Compliance and Financial Crime Functions within Barclays.

What will you be doing?

•    Designing and maintaining software solutions, using technologies such as JAVA, Spring, Angular/React, jBPM/Camunda and Databases on public/private cloud environment
•    Leading design and architecture of software modules and providing technical leadership
•    Participating in evaluating and bringing in new technologies, defining software standards
•    Working closely with product owners and analysts to comprehend requirements and deliver high quality solutions
•    Providing estimates for software builds, including design, development and testing
•    Assisting L2 Support teams to resolve user queries and production issues
•    Supporting, monitoring and troubleshooting of both production and non- production environments
•    Leading in SDLC feedback loops including code reviews & sprint retrospectives

What we’re looking for 

•    Robust experience in system design, development, architecture and solving complex IT problems 
•    Experience developing medium to large size software application covering: Core Java 1.8+, multi-threading, Spring, Spring Boot, GIT, ANT, IntelliJ/Eclipse, JIRA
•    Experience in HTML5 and CSS3 frameworks and knowledge in React/Angular, Java-script Node JS
•    Good working knowledge of standard development and build tools, e.g., GIT, TeamCity etc

Skills that will help you in the role

•    Experience building systems in the financial services organization and in financial crime domain
•    Knowledge of Graph Technologies including Graph-QL
