Security Engineer

As a Barclays Security Engineer, you will be accountable for developing and building Security Automations and Orchestration capabilities. You will deploy, develop and configure various Commercial off-the shelf and inhouse tooling to support key automations for Security Operations such as ServiceNow and Splunk SOAR. This will be the ideal opportunity for someone with a high degree of (hands-on) technical guidance & vision with broad subject matter expertise in security.

What will you be doing?
• Taking ownership of engineering of technical solutions across security domains, collaborating closely with security engineers and global infrastructure teams
• Creating and maintaining accurate and high quality documentation for the service as it is consumed by variety of internal service teams
• Maintaining a customer-focus on excellent service delivery
• Developing and deploying solutions to address key SecOps business requirements and design suitable solutions, challenging requirements where necessary
• Working closely with on-shore and off-shore development teams 
• Liaising with a wide range of role which includes security SMEs, developers and senior management (Directors and MD’s)
• Ensuring change management processes are thorough and be prepared to present such changes at change review boards

What we’re looking for:
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrable experience working with Software and SDKs with programming languages as Python 
• Wide foundation knowledge in cloud technologies mainly in AWS, Azure, Openshift (S3, Lambda, CloudFormation, ARO, Kubernetes)
• Excellent foundational knowledge of at least one core technology domain e.g. Operating Systems, Network Security, Application Security 
• Excellent overall knowledge of open source and commercial security tooling and integrations 
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Intermediate/Advance level of scripting/coding ability e.g., Python, PowerShell and exposure to other cloud technologies Azure and SaaS based security solutions 
• Excellent knowledge of security network architectures 
• Background in computer science or engineering  
• Ability to think architecturally at ‘big picture’ and able to translate this into practical security implementation


Where will you be working?
You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.
